Ingredients

Makes: 6 verrines
  • 2 Tbsp (30 ml) walnut crumbs
  • 2 Tbsp (30 ml) Epicure Hot Buttered Rum
  • 1 Tbsp (15 ml) dark rum, optional
  • 1 banana, sliced
  • 6 mini scoops of vanilla ice cream (use a melon baller)

Preparation

  • Heat walnut crumbs in Fry Pan over medium-high heat until lightly browned. Remove from pan and set aside.
  • Melt Hot Buttered Rum in pan. Stir in rum, if desired, and bring to a quick boil.
  • Add banana and gently stir to warm. Divide between 6 verrines.
  • Top with a scoop of ice cream and a sprinkling of walnut crumbs.

Tip

Serving Suggestion: Dish up with a single Epicure Rum Ball.

Easy Substitution: Instead of Epicure Hot Buttered Rum and dark rum, try 1 Tbsp (15 ml) Epicure Maple Spice Fruit Dip Mix (or brown sugar), 1 Tbsp (15 ml) butter, and 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) Epicure Apple Pie Spice or Pumpkin Pie Spice.

Chef Tip: ‘Verrine’ comes from verre, the French word for glass. A Verrine is an impressive appetizer or dazzling dessert elegantly presented in a small glass.
